My future husband was in love with Futon mattresses so we purchased one which would furnish our studio apartment and act as our bed as well.

It was of those cheap used Futon mattresses, but it looked nice enough and we did fine with it.

For the first year or two it was okay but after sleeping on it night after night the mattress, a simple cotton stuffed affair, became very flat and rather hard.

On top of this problem of comfort there was also the issue of the mattress slouching down when the bed was folded as a couch.

This was very frustrating and after nights sleeping on a hard surface and days spent re-adjusting the mattress to sit on, we finally gave up and decided to look into buying a new mattress.
